Heather Polly, after making some poet friends and attending Ozark Poetry Slam events and the National Poetry Slam in West Palm Beach, Fla., decided to put her skills at organizing, planning and general awesomeness to good use and took over the title of Slam Master of Ozark Poetry Slam. She (along with many of our local poets) has long dreamed of being able to bring an IWPS to Fayetteville and she is very much looking forward to hosting an amazing poetry event that promises to be a good time for everyone.

Houston Hughes discovered slam at Hendrix College, and went on to lead the team to win CUPSI regionals in 2009. He then moved up to Fayetteville, where he now splits his time between touring and helping out both with Ozark Poetry Slam and his brand new, as-of-yet-unnamed slam. In 2010, he made finals stage at IWPS, and he is now working on a one-man show about escaping religion in the South.
